42nd ADFIAP Annual Meeting held in Oman

On 20-21 February 2019, Mr. Javaid Basini, Secretary General of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Pakistan attended the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP) in Muscat, Oman under the invitation of ADFIAP and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).

On the sidelines of the 42nd Annual Meeting of ADFIAP, a consultation meeting between the United Nations ESCAP, ADFIAP and ICC was also organized by the UNESCAP on 21 February 2019. Participating countries are Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia and the Philippines. The United Nations ESCAP, ADFIAP and the ICC are working as partners to implement the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Project on “Innovative climate finance mechanisms for financial institutions” in Asia and the Pacific. The project aims to strengthen capacity of public financial institutions to develop policies or instruments that promote private-sector investments in climate change mitigation and adaptation projects.

As part of this project, ESCAP, ADFIAP and ICC will conduct a series of in-country consultations with financial institutions to discuss the implementation of concrete actions to promote private-sector investment in climate change mitigation and adaptation.

 

Mr. Tariq M. Rangoonwala, Chair of ICC Pakistan and Vice Chairman of SRCIC was elected to the United Nations ESCAP Sustainable Development Network (ESBN) Executive Council in December 2018. Mr. Rangoonwala is scheduled to attend the first meeting of the ESBN Executive Council to be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 26th March and the Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development APFSD 2019 on 27th March 2019.
