An international forum on the Belt and Road Development and ATA Carnet System to be held in Xi'an China
15 Mar 2018

The ATA Carnet is an international customs document that permits the tax-free and duty-free temporary export and import of goods for up to one year. The Carnet eliminates the need to purchase temporary import bonds. So long as the goods are re-exported within the allotted time frame, no duties or taxes are due.

The ATA Carnet System is currently in force in 85 countries and regions. Annually, the goods moving in and out of the countries using a carnet for transit reaches a total value of USD 12 billion. All ATA member nations are supported by the trade facilitation within the ATA system, which effectively promotes international exchange in business, technology, sports and culture, and in particular, provides the company products with advantage to enter the world market.

To improve the environment for the ATA Carnet System, to assist enterprises in effective use of ATA Carnet, and to further promote trade facilitation, a forum on the Belt and Road Development and ATA Carnet System is to be held by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Xi'an at the Tang West Market on 10 May 2018. The discussion will be on the application of ATA Carnet, place of origin, and TIR Convention for customs clearance facilitation among the Belt and Road countries.

The meeting will be co-organized by Shaanxi provincial government, SRCIC and CCPIT Shaanxi province.

VIPs attending the meeting will include officials from General Administration of China Customs, ICC, WCF, China Ministry of Commerce, WATAC, Council of the Origin Convention, IRU, China Customs Brokers Association, and well known corporations. Speeches will be delivered and important presentations could be expected.
