The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry held the Georgia-Belarus business forum in Tbilisi to coincide with the visit of the Republic of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Georgia. The forum was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Rusy, the First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Dmitri Kumsishvili, the BelCCI Chairman Vladimir Ulakhovich, the Georgian CCI President Nino Chikovani, over 300 Belarusian and Georgian businessmen.

In his speech at the business forum Belarus' Vice Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy highlighted the momentum in the development of bilateral cooperation with Georgia and spoke in favor of further improving the conditions for business. He noted that both states have established favorable conditions for business development.

For his part, Georgia's First Deputy Prime Minister, Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili stressed that Georgia and Belarus maintain long-term cooperation which has gained a momentum in recent years, both at the level of the states and private sector.

The goal to reach $200 million in mutual trade will be achieved in the near future, Vladimir Ulakhovich told. “It is important that we have begun to implement joint projects, including in the field of mechanical engineering. The two countries will step up cooperation in such areas as food industry, petrochemistry, construction, new technology, IT,” Vladimir Ulakhovich noted.

About 30 bilateral documents worth $9 mln were signed during the forum including business contracts for the supplies of Belarusian automobiles, dump trucks, agricultural machinery, lift equipment, chemical, meat and dairy products, medicines, a memorandum in the field of export-import insurance.

Besides, a number of contracts and agreements, including in the fields of confectionery industry and electric transport production, were signed during the "Modern Minsk and Tbilisi" forum section.

The forum plenary part was followed by B2B negotiations of the two countries' businessmen. The Belarusian entrepreneurs held talks with the Georgian partners on further cooperation in the fields of industrial production and mechanical engineering, agriculture, petroleum chemistry, energy engineering and electronics, construction and infrastructure development, transport and tourism, pharmaceutical production and medicine, light industry, woodworking, IT, financial services, export-import transactions, etc.

An expo representing Belarusian products runs within the framework of the forum. The Georgian businessmen may get acquainted with the products of such Belarusian enterprises as Amkodor, Belita, Belkommunmash Holding Management Company, Vitex, Kommunarka, Slodych Confectionery Company, Minsk Automobile Plant, Minsk Tractor Works, Minsk Kristall, Minskhlebprom, Modum. The Minsk Technological Park presents its cooperation opportunities and start-ups assistance projects.
