Member Updates: Nepal Int’l Trade Fair to begin on March 8
25 Jan 2018

Jan 25, 2018-The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), a member of Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce, is hosting the Nepal International Trade Fair to promote Nepali goods and services and provide a platform to Nepali businesspersons to establish relationship with foreign investors, entrepreneurs and traders.

The fair, which is organised every year, will be held from March 8-12 at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu. The seventh edition of the fair will be attended by investors, entrepreneurs and traders from South Asian countries, China, Thailand and Malaysia.

The major attractions of the fair are Nepali-made handicraft products and goods and services, such as large cardamom, ginger, tea, synthetic hides and chyangra pashmina, which are being promoted through the government's National Trade Integration Strategy. These products will be showcased in over 300 stalls, says a statement issued by the FNCCI. These stalls will also provide information on agricultural and energy products, buildings and construction materials, education, information technology, pharmacy and transportation. The fair will also work as a hub to facilitate interactions between Nepali and international consumers and businesspersons. The fair will host meetings with business representatives from various countries and discussions on bilateral trade promotion and investment.

"The fair will be crucial to attract investment in Nepal and expand international entrepreneurial relations," says the FNCCI statement.

The fair, according to the FNCCI, will be attended by about 200,000 Nepali and foreign visitors. The fair will be conducted as a calendar event co-organised by the Chamber of Commerce Lalitpur and Nepal Handicraft Association, promoted by the Trade and Export Promotion Centre and assisted by the Ministry of Commerce.

Last year, more than 100,000 domestic and foreign visitors attended the fair.

The fair welcomed consumers from China, India, Bangladesh, Korea, Japan, Israel, Germany, the EU and the USA, along with entrepreneurial representatives from China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Korea.

The fair saw participation from many domestic exporters and Nepali multinational companies.

According to the FNCCI, holding the internationally recognised Nepal International Trade Fair regularly will help attract international investment and technology, promote international market for domestic production and aid the national economy.
