“We are currently in the process of the profound changing situation for the world economy and business order, which makes it very important and also necessary to construct a global governing system of openness, inclusiveness, balance and universal benefit. I am impressed with President Xi’s statement that efforts should be made to form a fair, reasonable and transparent system of international economic and trading rules, and promote rational flow of production factors, efficient allocation of resources and deep integration of markets. This is of far reaching significance,” said Lu Jianzhong, SRCIC Chairman, at an interview by People’s Daily Online while participating in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing.

He also pointed out that, one of the important goals to be fulfilled for the Belt and Road Initiative is to crack the world governance difficulty for economy. It’s more than economic cooperation and cultural exchange. It’s the healthy economic governing system that promotes peace, stability and development through business.

Mr. Lu’s above statement was made at the discussion session of the Belt and Road Forum on 15 May 2017.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said to strengthen the exchange between parliaments, political parties and social organizations to promote inclusive development. “The forces of business communities of different countries should be brought into full play for the Belt and Road construction.” Mr. Lu Jianzhong agreed by saying that enterprises are the carriers of economy, and social community strength gave rise to the Silk Road. To realize the vision of the Belt and Road, it requires collaboration at the states and governments level, as well as responses from communities and non-government sectors.

Mr. Lu said, the key areas for pragmatic cooperation are infrastructure connection, trade and investment, financial support and cultural exchange. And the guarantee comes from the landed policies of each country to guide and support international business associations in their engagement and promotion for trade facilitation.  People and culture exchange between countries is the lubricant for connectivity. Multiple and flexible ways of cultural interaction will help deepen the partnership, form up the consensus, enhance the cooperation, and push forward the Belt and Road construction.

“The Belt and Road is a great initiative. It’s more inclusive.”Mr. Jean-Guy Carrier, SRCIC Executive Chairman, said, “At this forum, the global business circle should have seen the pressing importance and opportunities brought about by promoting the Belt and Road.”

“Over the last year, I have been to many Belt and Road countries and witnessed the big changes coming out from constructing the Belt and Road.” “The Belt and Road will have more impact,” said Mr. Jemal Inaishvili, President of Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC) is an international business confederation devoted to Silk Road trade prosperity and cultural revival. Since its establishment in 2015, it now has 71 state-level chambers of commerce as its members and millions of enterprises affiliated. Its seven professional committees of finance, trade, culture, energy, transportation, information, and industrial parks and seven sub-organizations have built up a platform of joint construction and mutual benefit for its members. SRCIC has signed Framework Agreement on Jointly Establishing A Mechanism and Platform for International Industry and Commerce Cooperation with more than sixty chambers of commerce and organizations at state level to form up a community of shared interests, responsibilities and a shared future, playing an active role in facilitating the Belt and Road in the business world.

Just before the forum, SRCIC delegation finished its business visits to Lebanon and Jordan, and extended the cooperation mechanism and platform for new achievements.

The next work for SRCIC is to synergize the strength of 71 country members, especially the commercial institutions in the Arabic region, to enrich its project pool and capital pool for broader international connection and stronger promotion in the implementation of the Belt and Road projects.
