Member Updates: “Silk Road 2018” Awards Granted

Organized by the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), the “Silk Road” ceremony was held on February 13, 2018 in the chamber’s Great Hall.

 

The biennial ceremony has been taking place since 2007 to select and promote international organizations, diplomatic missions, foreign investors, individuals and projects implemented with foreign support or bilateral technical assistance which contribute to the socio-economic development of Mongolia.

 

During the ceremony, guests enjoyed a concert of a Mongolian ethnic group, contortionists and a fashion show by the ShilmelZagvar Company. Afterwards, a ritual of making the first slice of uuts (main dish of the Mongolian Lunar New Year) was presented to the audience.

 

In the following nominations, companies, organizations and individuals were granted the Silk Road 2018 Awards:

Nominations for foreign direct investment entrepreneurs and entities

  1. OyuTolgoi LLC was selected as the best foreign investor contributing to the state budget
  2. UB Smart Card LLC - Best investor-introduced advanced technology
  3. ENGIE LLC - Best green investor
  4. Mobicom LLC - Best socially-responsible investor
  5. E-Mart Super Market - Best investor to creation of new workplaces

 

Nomination for bilateral and multilateral partners, international organizations and projects

  1. ‘MonNaran’ project - Most valued contributor to development of green economy, green business and sustainable environment practices
  2. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)- Most valued contributor to social development, poverty reduction and sustainable livelihood development
  3. GIZ ETIS - Most valued contributor to implemention of public private dialogue partnership and/or country ownership principle

 

Nomination for Foreign Individuals

Mr. John Langtry, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Mongolia, Mr. I.K.Koblandin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Mongolia, Mr. Okawa Naoto from the Japan-Mongolia Center for Human Resource Development Cooperation and Mr. YaltsynManav, a Turkish Chef - Best contributor to development of the bilateral cooperation.
