SRCIC Chairman Lu Jianzhong elected as Vice President of CAFIU

On May 16, the general meeting of Chinese Association for International Understanding (CAFIU), namely, the 1st plenary session of the 12th council was held in Beijing. SRCIC Chairman Lu Jianzhong was invited to the meeting and elected as Vice President of the 12th Executive Council of CAFIU. Ji Bingxuan, Vice Chairman of the 13th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress,Yan Juanqi, Vice Chairman of the 12th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Song Tao, Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China, Wang Yajun, Vice Minister of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China, also attended the meeting and delivered the speeches respectively.

 

The meeting reviewed the work statement of the 11th Council and the Constitution of CAFIU (Revision), announced the adjustment of CAFIU's leadership and appointed the new council leadership and the Secretary-General of the Secretariat. Ji Bingxuan was elected as President of the 12th Executive Council of CAFIU. Both Chairman Lu Jianzhong and Wang Yajun were elected as Vice Presidents of the 12th Executive council of CAFIU, along with 25 new Standing Council Members and 73 new Council Members.

Established in 1981, the Chinese Association for International Understanding (CAFIU) is composed by social activists, scholars and representatives from all walks of life. CAFIU is registered as a non-profit organization with the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and acquired special consultative status with UN ECOSOC in May, 2003. The Executive Council is CAFIU's highest organ of power, which is elected every five years. Since its founding, CAFIU has established ties and conducted exchanges with associations, political organizations and research institutes of dozens of countries, as well as well-known international organizations. CAFIU also participates in the activities with UN entities, and keeps regular contact with some international organizations.
