SRCIC Delegation in Georgia for Georgian Tea 170 Years
28 Nov 2017

While participating the Tbilisi Belt & Road Forum 2017, Mr. Li Zhonghang, SRCIC Secretary General, was invited by David Saganelidze, Chairman of JSC Partnership Fund and Georgian Organic Tea Producers Association, to attend the celebration of the 170th anniversary of Georgian tea, a result of the first Chinese tea bushes planted in Georgia 170 years ago. Georgian tea was first internationally recognized in 1900 in Paris, where it was awarded with a great gold medal.

On 27 November, at the anniversary forum "Georgian Tea is 170 Years Old", attended by international and local tea companies as well as merited Georgian tea producers, Mr. Li congratulated the forum and spoke for the occasion.

Georgia has been an active member of the SRCIC and Mr. Li expressed great thanks for the important contribution Georgian colleagues have made in the SRCIC's development. Georgia was the first guest country in the big SRCIC events. In September 2016, the theme presentation of Chinese Tea and Georgian Wine, Historical Cheers, made itself a successful part of the 2016 Silk Road Business Summit in Xi'an, China.

Mr. Li asked his close counterparts in Georgia to continue their collaboration with SRCIC for tea industry and for cultural exchange.

SRCIC Deputy Secretary General Diane Bian and her colleagues were also present at the tea forum.
