SRCIC Chairman Lu Jianzhong meets Cambodian Chamber of Commerce delegation in Beijing

On April 27, 2019, SRCIC Chairman Lu Jianzhong met with the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) delegation led by its President Neak Oknha Kith Meng at SRCIC Beijing office. Zhang Wei, former Vice President of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Vice President of China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC), and Li Zhonghang, Vice President and Secretary General of SRCIC also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, SRCIC Chairman Lu Jianzhong indicated that business association acting as a bridge is the main force in boosting the Belt and Road construction. He also praised President Neak Oknha Kith Meng's great prestige and influence in the Cambodian and even Asian business communities. "The CCC and the Royal Group of Companies Limited under your leadership have made important contributions to promoting BRI cooperation between China and Cambodia. I believe our future cooperation will be closer and our common cause will reach a new height.” Chairman Lu added.

 

President Neak Oknha Kith Meng expressed the enduring friendship between China and Cambodia, which was jointly created and carefully maintained by the older generation of Chinese leaders and H.E Norodom Sihanouk. "Both sides shall safeguard and carry forward this friendship and make good use of the Lancang-Mekong River and ASEAN cooperation mechanism to collaborate in the fields of economy, trade, tourism, culture, education, science and technology and agriculture. CCC is willing to strengthen cooperation with SRCIC to push Sino-Cambodian friendship to a new level.  " he said. 

 

Former Vice President of CCPIT and Vice President of CCOIC Zhang Wei presented the report on North-South Cooperation Corridor in the Indian Ocean under the B&R Construction for the participants. He explicated, “The BRI has developed from one main line to two towards east-west directions. Therefore, the construction of the north-south cooperative channel in the Indian Ocean with a grid-like layout will enrich the significance of B&R construction.”

Background Info

 

Cambodian Chamber of Commerce joined in SRCIC in August 2018 and officially became a member of SRCIC. Li Zhonghang, SRCIC Vice Chairman and Secretary Gneral of SRCIC, called on President Neak Oknha Kith Men in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in February 2016. Mr. Li Zhonghang also met with President Neak Oknha Kith Men during the 15th Asia-Europe Business Forum in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in July 2016.

 

Cambodian Chamber of Commerce is established under the Law on Chamber of Commerce promulgated in 1995 and its relevant amendment and regulations of the Kingdom of Cambodia. By nature, Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary membership-based and is a not-for-profit institution representing private sector interests in commercial, industrial, service and craft and agricultural sectors and dedicates to the economic well-being of their territory and of the country as a whole.
