SRCIC Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement with CNIE in Beijing

On 13 March 2018, SRCIC Secretary General Mr. Li Zhonghang and his counterpart of China NGO Network for International Exchanges (CNIE) Mr. Zhu Rui signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing which officially confirmed the partnership of the two organizations.

 

The two parties agreed to actively cooperate in NGO diplomacy, cultural exchange, international communication and pragmatic cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and take the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, China-Africa People's Forum, Silk Road Business Summit and a series of top level international events as platforms to expend social contacts and benefit Belt and Road countries and partners.

 

 

Mr. Zhu spoke positively ofthe achievements made by SRCIC, and agreed to keep regular contact with SRCIC. He said: “CNIE will efficiently deliver the projects information from SRCIC and its member organizations to related Chinese national offices to seek support”.

 

Mr. Li on behalf of SRCIC Chairman Lu Jianzhong expressed his sincere appreciation for CNIE's long term support to SRCIC and assured that SRCIC will remain a close partner to CNIE in all its projects and activities.

 

In appreciation of Mr. Lu Jianzhong's great efforts and endeavor in NGO communication among Silk Road countries and organizations, Mr. Zhu Rui suggested a recommendation by the organization procedures for Mr. Lu to take a senior positionin Chinese Association for International Understanding(CAFIU), a parallel organization to CNIE, of which Mr. Zhu is also Secretary General.

 

Background Info

1. CNIE, China NGO Network for International Exchanges, was founded in 2005. Among its 265 organizational members, 36 have UNECOSOC Consultative Status. It also has over 180 individual council members.

 

As a national consortium of non-government organization specialized in international exchange and cooperation, CNIE took the lead in establishing the “Silk Road NGO Cooperation Network”, which has more than 260 member organizations from over 60 countries by now and held its first forum in Beijing last November.

 

2. CAFIU, Chinese Association for International Understanding, was established in 1981 by influential social and academic people. It has set up relationship with institutions, parties, research entities and international organizations in different countries in the world. CAFIU has kept UN ECOSOC special consultative statussince 2003.
