Special seminar by SRCIC the Philippines

 

14 August 2017, SRCIC the Philippines held “the Belt and Road” seminar in Manila Diamond Hotel for business opportunities to the Philippines. Dr. Lin Weixian was invited as the keynote speaker. Johnny Sy, Executive Vice Chairman of SRCIC the Philippines, attended the meeting with colleagues, along with fellow alumni associations, and overseas Chinese Federation of Industry and Commerce associations. All seats were occupied and a strong response was showed by the audience. The seminar was presided over by Vincent Tan, Secretary General of SRCIC the Philippines.

 

Welcome speech by Executive Vice Chairman Johnny Sy

 

Johnny Sy said in his welcome speech, SRCIC the Philippines is the first overseas branch of Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce. In participating the Belt and Road Initiative along with the process of enterprises seeking business opportunities in Philippines, we will follow up the Philippine government and the market development as well as the updates from China and the world to enhance an international vision, continue our exploration, and identify the right direction. In doing so, we need professional expertise from people like Dr. Lin to give guidance.

 

Dr. Lin's lecture

 

Dr. Lin first analyzed the business opportunities the Belt and Road Initiative has brought to neighboring countries, and pointed out that cooperation with China is the only way out. He started with the development status quo of China, the Philippines and other ASEAN countries, sharing his successful investment experiences in the ASEAN countries and China. He emphasized the necessity of being always prepare for difficulties in times of peace, and encouraged enterprises to face change in today's Internet era.

 

As the advantage of the Philippines and other ASEAN countries, Dr. Lin pointed out that ASEAN is a big market of 650 million people. The demographic dividend far exceeds the average level of the world. He hoped that Philippine enterprises can make full use of the development advantages of China to develop the ASEAN market and further create a win-win situation.

 

Also on the occasion, Dr. Lin presented books to SRCIC the Philippines, the Philippine Alumni Association, and the Overseas Chinese Federation of Industry and Commerce of the Philippines. In return, SRCIC the Philippines presented a commemorative plaque to Dr. Lin.

 

The seminar was presided over by Vincent Tan, Secretary General of SRCIC the Philippines.
